A Holy Time

Ramadan: A time with which we can all identify

For thirty days, Muslims throughout the Greater Philadelphia region and around the world are observing the Islamic holiday of Ramadan.  From September 1st to September 30th, Muslims engage in intensified prayer, heightened service and charity, and deep introspection and reflection to honor the month during which the Qur’an, the Islamic Holy Book, was revealed.

Sacred month of Elul to set tone for Jewish New Year

Just as the academic year begins for students across the country, the Jewish calendar year is winding down. September 1st marks the start of Elul, the final month of the Jewish year used to prepare for the High Holidays, the ten day period of celebration and repentance that set the tone for the year to come.

Birth of Baha’u’llah -- November 12th (Baha’i): Anniversary of the Prophet-founder of the Baha’i faith

Board Member Spotlight: Sister Josephine Kase

Sister Josephine Kase Passionate. Committed. Caring. These are just a few words that describe Sister Josephine Kase, Interfaith Center Executive Committee Member and Assistant Director for the Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs Office at the Philadelphia Archdiocese—someone who has devoted her life to education and dialogue. At the end of October, Kase will retire from these positions and open a new chapter in her life.

Dialogue Guided by Hallowed Energies: A Participant Reflects…

Encountering Other Faiths serieMy experience at each meeting of the Encountering Other Faiths series had its own particular flavor.  The first session was at the mosque I attend, where my role was that of a host. Other meetings were more of a learning experience for me. The magnificent Torah scroll we saw at the synagogue was something that I had seen only in pictures before!
