Faith 4 Justice Youth Council

The Frederick Douglass Family Foundation (FDFF) has announced the formation of the Faith 4 Justice Youth Council. The Council will assist FDFF in designing and initiating anti-human trafficking programs for faith-based organizations across the United States. Young people aged 13 to 18 are eligible to apply for a one-year term on the Council.

“We will select 50 students from all over the country that are interested in helping us address the issue of human trafficking and modern-day slavery,” says Ken Morris, President of FDFF. “These young leaders will help in creating projects that will have a real impact on this global dilemma. Their ideas will affect change.”

FDFF is now accepting applications for Council positions. The Council will meet via a toll-free conference calls and webinars. An online application can be found at http://www.fdff.org/faith-application.html. Parental consent will be required for members.

FDFF is an Atlanta-based 501(c)3 founded by the direct descendants of both Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington. Chairwoman, Nettie Washington Douglass is the great, great granddaughter of Douglass and the great granddaughter of Washington. The organization seeks to end human trafficking through education and by engaging young people to create a social movement through digital and traditional media. The Faith 4 Justice Youth Council is a volunteer group.

United We Serve: Join the Movement!

United We Serve The White House, with the Corporation for National and Community Service, is launching the United We Serve campaign, urging Americans to make community service a national priority this summer. As we know, interfaith service can strengthen our communities even more powerfully, as President Obama reminded us in his Cairo Address.

IFYC Youth CoreThis is our time to improve our communities, and demonstrate the impact of interfaith service to the world.  We need you to:

  • Visit Serve.gov and the Interfaith Youth Core’s Bridge-builders' Network to find resources that will help you plan effective interfaith service events, and connect with others in the movement!
  • Plan or find service events to participate in. Both Serve.gov and the Bridge-builders’ Network have tools to help you find service events right where you live, if you can’t plan them yourself.
  • Tell President Obama your story. President Obama is collecting stories of United We Serve to find best practices and share them with the world. To raise the profile of interfaith service make sure to share your story at Serve.gov, or by contacting Hannah McConnaughay at hannah@ifyc.org.

The United We Serve campaign ends on September 11th - but the call to serve will continue. This summer, let us prove that as Americans, and as diverse people of faith, United We Serve.
